Bucketfull Of Brains is a music magazine. Since Nigel Cross founded the title in 1979 it has published continuously under a series of editorial teams. It’s currently under the stewardship of Nick West and Terry Hermon. The remit covers a wide-range of musics; an erstwhile sub-title listed “rock, garage, psych, folk-rock, pop, rock’n’roll”, and to that can now be added country, soul and glam and probably more. Throughout its life it has retained an affection for songs with guitars and thus bands like The Barracudas, The Flamin’ Groovies, The Dream Syndicate, The Long Ryders and The Green Pajamas hold a special place in its affections.
More recently the magazine has become a record label. In 2010 putting out an EP by the young Swedish singer Benjamin Folke Thomas and then the following year a full-length album from Trent Miller. 2012 has bought a reissue of Miller’s self-released debut album Cerberus. This is soon to be followed by a UK release for Edward Rogers’ Porcelain. Later in the spring and early summer will come albums from John Murry and Jack Day.
The last issue of BoB published was a double issue #78/79 with a cover-mounted CD from Richard Warren. Copies of this and other back issues are still available and can be purchased here. #80 is slated for a June 2012 publication with #81 following towards the end of the year.
