This evening Alejandro Escovedo plays at Bush Hall in London with Don Antonio who are both a band and a dude otherwise known as Antonio Gramentieri; Antonio also has another band called Sacri Cuori. They’re going to be joined by Peter Perrett and John Perry of The Only Ones and it’ll be righteous.
In Spring 1998 No Depression put Alejandro on their cover, called him Artist Of The Decade along with a quote “The barricades and reasons/They mean nothing to me”. There’s a good argument that Alejandro’s also been the artist of the two subsequent decades.
Alejandro has just released a new and mightily pertinent album The Crossing on Yep Roc and they’ll undoubtedly play a lot of it tomorrow night. You should go. A few tickets still available here.
I’ve seen Alejandro a few times over the years and it’s always a memorable night. This links to a write-up of just one of them.
