The latest single to arrive from Hypnotic Bridge features the Italian one-person outfit Black Snake Moan. Marco Contestabile takes inspiration both from 60s psychedelic touchstones and from the mysteries of his homeland, the realm of the ancient Etruscans. Certainly both the songs here present are imbued with a sense of dark spirituality.

Fire’ invokes both The Doors and The Seeds; its guitar opening quickly overtaken by a driving organ and Jim Morrison-like baritone. Music as ritual and a route to revelation. Contrastingly the 12-string remains prominent through the floating dream-trip of ‘What You See’.

It’s well worth investigating further and you can buy it here. There’s also an earlier album Phantasmagoria on Misty Lane.
