From the image above, and the fact they’ll be making their debut at The Beat Bespoke alongside Looking Glass Alice, you can a good picture of where The Crystal Teardrop’s sensibilities derive from. This five-piece comprises a clothes designer (Caitlin Hare), two DJs (Alexandra Rose and Stuart Gray) alongside two more established musos – Leon Jones from Alfa 9 and Connor Wells of Formal Sppeedwear. Their first track to surface – ‘Nine Times Nine’ – unashamedly and authentically evokes paisley days and garage nuggets. Swirls of sounds, backward guitars, shrill female vocals and harmonies, all combine in an immensely likeable miasma of sound. This is a massively good start.
